Guide to Programs & Opportunities

Affiliate Programs - What it is and how it works

Affiliate programs are referral programs generally offered by e-commerce enabled sites, usually in the business of selling goods and services online ( known as merchants or advertisers) to content-rich website owners to harness their web traffic to their sites. For doing that, they pay a commission for every transaction that comes from the referral site. The majority of affiliate programs pay you a commission as a percentage of the revenue generated from the purchases made by customers that you bring to them from your site. The actual commission rate varies widely, from as little as 1% for high-priced items offered by highly reputed manufacturers, to more than 50% for online services and information products offered by lesser known companies. Most affiliate programs pay for a sale on one of their products, but there are some who pay for a lead for a registration or trial services, or more rarely, for a click-through to their site.

Wholesale Dropshipping - What it is and how it works

Wholesale dropshipping is one low-cost and low-risk way to sell items on the internet, especially on ebay and other sites of auction. You don't pay up front to stock products. You don't have to keep an inventory of goods or ship anything. You simply place product information (images and descriptions) on your website or auction site, take orders, and then email those orders to your wholesale dropshipper. You provide the dropshipper with your customers address and the wholesale dropshipper ships the product directly to your customer, with your return address on the label. You make the money on the difference between your selling price and your actual cost for the product. With dropshipping you need not worry about packaging and shipping. Everything, except the sale is handled by the dropshipper.

Reselling Other People's Products

It is always best to have your own products to sell, but what if you do not own any products? Yes, you can always buy over the Resale Rights of a product from the owner and become a legal reseller of the product. There are basically two types of resale rights - Master Resale Rights and Resale Rights. Master Resale Rights allow you to not only to sell the products but also the resale rights to your customers. On the other hand, simple Resale Rights give you only the rights to sell the product alone. You cannot transfer your Resale Rights to your customers.

The most commonly offered resellable products are intangible products such as downloadable e-books. digital web products and softwares. As piracy and copyright infringements of these types of products are not infrequent, it is important to make sure that what you buy are not illegal copies. So, be vigilant, or else, you may get into trouble with the law.
